There's good news and bad from the clifftop memorial at Capel-le-Ferne, where an old friend is about to leave us temporarily.
The bad news is that our Mk 1 Spitfire replica is being moved tomorrow (Thursday 25 April) by lowloader to the home of GB Replicas at Gt Yarmouth on Norfolk's east coast. The good news is that the journey marks the first stage in the repair of the popular attraction, which was badly damaged in one of the winter's storms.
The replica was blown off its wheels by the strong winds and has been 'flying' on its belly ever since. Tomorrow's trip will allow the damage to be professionally assessed before repairs are carried out.
We are sorry that visitors won't be able to see the Spitfire for a few weeks, but we are all looking forward to having it back in full airworthy condition in the summer.
Get ready for an exciting and brutal run 3 journey as you bravely navigate a treacherous environment
