Commemorating Battle of Britain Day

Sunday 15 September saw the Trust once again commemorate the day on which the RAF inflicted heavy losses on the Luftwaffe and which is seen as the beginning of the end of Nazi invasion plans.

The annual service of commemoration to mark Battle of Britain Day was once again well attended by trustees, volunteers and the people of Capel-le-Ferne on Friday 15 September.

A special guest at the 2024 service was historian, author and friend of the Memorial Dilip Sarkar MBE, FRHistS FRAeS, who later gave a talk in The Wing to mark the launch of the fourth book in his eight-part official history of the Battle of Britain, written on behalf of the Trust.

Led as always by The Rev Brian Williams, with support from site manager Jules Gomez and Trustee Andy Simpson, the service included Last Post and a two-minute silence and was followed by a number of wreaths being laid at the National Memorial to the Few.
