Unique art event will raise funds

Art lovers are in for a treat when Folkestone’s own Shane Record visits the Memorial on Thursday 8 December for a live painting and auction event.

Renowned professional artist Shane, whose work has been described as ‘ultra-contemporary’, will be painting a unique view of the Memorial that will be auctioned on the day, with online viewers as well as those at the event itself able to bid.

While supporters will be able to buy tickets to be part of this exciting event, it will also be streamed on Facebook Live from 5.30pm for those who are unable to get to the Memorial in person. Bidding will open at 7.30pm, both online and in the room.

Shane has run his studio gallery in the heart of Folkestone’s Creative Quarter since 2005. He paints mainly in oils with a palette knife but is equally happy using other mediums.

His subjects are diverse, from street scenes and seascapes to landscapes and portraiture. Those at the event and on the Facebook Live link will be able to see his interpretation of the clifftop Memorial take shape in real time before bidding to own what will be a unique work of art.

Bidding will start at £50, and all the money raised at the event will help support the charity. There are limited spaces available at the event itself, with tickets costing £7.50 per person, to include a glass of wine or soft drink.

Booking is via Eventbrite – simply click this link to be part of a unique art experience and fundraising event. The top bidder will not only take home a fantastic artwork of this atmospheric Memorial but will have his or her ticket price refunded. Ticket numbers are limited because of space constraints.
