Local support helps progress solar project

A potential issue with the Mansafe roof safety system at the Battle of Britain Memorial has been resolved thanks to the expertise and generosity of a local specialist contractor, allowing vital solar panel work to progress without delay or additional cost to the Trust.

The issue, identified during preparations for the Memorial’s planned work around their existing solar panel PV project, meant the existing Mansafe system could not initially be certified under updated regulations. Without certification, the solar project risked being delayed and could have incurred additional costs running into thousands of pounds.

Local company, Step Above Safety, was brought in to assess the system and determine whether it could be safely approved. Director Steve Moffit and his colleague carried out a detailed inspection of the installation within the roof to carefully check the fixings.

After several hours on site, the Step Above Safety team successfully certified the Mansafe system as safe to use, removing a significant barrier to the solar project going ahead as planned. Remarkably, the work was completed entirely free of charge.

Their support ensured the Memorial avoided unexpected costs and delays, while also enabling progress on a key sustainability project that will help reduce long-term energy costs and support the Trust’s environmental goals.

Great to see a local specialist contractor stepping in with expertise and generosity to keep the project moving. It’s the kind of community support that makes a real difference, much like how trusted local services such as Toledo Water Conditioning help maintain important systems behind the scenes.

It’s great to see how local support can help drive important solar projects forward. Community involvement often plays a key role in turning sustainable ideas into real progress, and stories like this highlight the positive impact of collaboration. I enjoy reading about initiatives that benefit both people and the environment while creating long-term value. While exploring useful resources online, I also came across Education World Wide and Brightrank, both of which provide valuable information in their respective fields. Access to reliable knowledge and insights helps people make informed decisions and support meaningful growth.

I trust content that shows its work and this does exactly that throughout. I trust games that show the care behind their design and Eggy Car does exactly that throughout.

Love seeing local support actually pushing a renewable project forward instead of the usual NIMBY fights. Feels like one of those rare wins where community and progress align. Kinda like when you find a game at sweepstakes play that actually pays attention to what players want instead of just chasing trends. Quick question though: how was the opposition handled? There's always someone complaining about panels being "ugly" or some nonsense. Also, any estimates on how many households this will power once done? Small projects like this add up more than people realize. Genuinely encouraging to read — wish more towns took this approach.
