Snapping up the opportunity

A group of keen young photographers learned plenty of tricks of the trade when they attended the Battle of Britain Memorial Trusts's first photography workshop on Saturday (30 July).

The youngsters enjoyed picking up some expert tips as they practised their skills on all the exciting photo opportunities at the clifftop site.

From our replica Hurricane and Spitfire and stainless steel Stuka sculpture to the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall and the thoughtful gaze of the airman at the heart of the National Memorial to the Few, the site at Capel-le-Ferne has a wealth of great photographs just waiting to be taken.

The Trust provided two expert photographers, one a professional armed with a digital camera and the other a social media blogger with finely-honed iPhone skills, to show the youngsters around the site and help them turn their ideas into great pictures.

The budding young photographers had a fantastic afternoon and produced some fabulous images. The workshops are aimed at eight to 14 year-olds and cost just £33, which helps support the charity. Our next afternoon session (1.30- - 4.30pm) is on Wednesday 17 August. Follow this link to book your place - Wednesday 17 August.
