Silver award for Thomas

Updated: Oct 7, 2024

Young Thomas Monks is a real history enthusiast, and chose the Battle of Britain Memorial to mark his achievement in visiting 20 museums and heritage sites across Kent.

Thomas is a member of the Wheels of Time scheme, which encourages children aged five to 11 to visit as many of 57 member sites as possible. The Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne signed up as a member of the scheme in April and was delighted when Thomas chose to receive his silver medal for visiting 20 sites at our clifftop tribute to the Few.

Memorial manager Jules Gomez was on hand to present the award to Thomas, who was accompanied by dad Wayne.

Children who join the scheme are given a special Wheels of Time lanyard to which they attach unique badges from each of the sites they visit.

The 57 museums and heritage sites signed up to the popular scheme are shown on Roamin' Rex's 2024 Map, a 12-page booklet highlighting all the exciting places where youngsters can have fun, learn about history and add another badge to their collection.
