Phil's flight of a lifetime

Trust volunteer Phil Whittaker and his wife Carol-Anne had the trip of a lifetime when they flew with World Team Acrobatic Champions The Blades.

Phil, who wore his Memorial Trust tee-shirt for the stunning photo opportunity, said it had been a tremendous experience. “Apart from taking part in formation flying and stunning aerobatics with two of The Blades, we were treated to a mid-air display by a Spitfire and joined a formation with it. It was amazing,” he said. Phil’s Blade was piloted by Kirsty Murphy, the only female Red Arrow, while the Spitfire was flown by Mike Ling, the longest-serving Red Arrow, with 2,500 sorties to his name, and a great friend and supporter of the Memorial Trust.

Don’t forget you can experience your own trip of a lifetime by signing up for a trip in a Spitfire or Hurricane operated by the Biggin Hill Heritage Hanger team. Just follow the link to the right of our logo on this page.
