Making (and painting) their day

Updated: Apr 17

Would-be modellers of all ages tried their hand at kit building when the Trust ran another successful Airfix Make & Paint Day at the Capel-le-Ferne home of the Battle of Britain Memorial.

Volunteer expert modellers Jack and Harry Triggs were on hand to offer help and advice as men and women, boys and girls, grandparents and grandchildren tried their hand at this fascinating hobby.

Top kit supplier Airfix came up with model Spitfires, paints, brushes and glues to support the Trust's fund-raising efforts, which meant the minimal charge of £10 a person helped to support the charity, which receives no fund-raising support from local or central government.

Photographer Barry Duffield captured the occasion as another batch of scale model kit builders caught the bug. Watch the website and our social media channels for the next chance to have a go at this captivating hobby.
