Inspiring another generation!

Enthusiastic youngsters and equally keen grown-up helpers got stuck in when the Trust gave them the opportunity to try their hands at putting their first plastic aircraft kit together on Sunday (12 Feb).

Our first Make and Paint day for a number of years proved a sell-out success, with 35 youngsters and their adult helpers attending each of two sessions on the day and each taking home their own fully built and painted Airfix Spitfire.

While some of the colour schemes were far from any of the recognised camouflage options, the young people had a fantastic time, with many of them trying this fascinating hobby for the first time.

The event was supported by Airfix, which provided the kits, glue and paint, while a number of volunteer ‘experts’ were on hand to help with the fiddlier bits.

The nominal charge for the day went to support Trust funds, while the shop and café also benefited from the extra visitors.
