Flypast announced for Friday

Updated: Sep 17

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight has announced that is planning a commemorative flypast over the Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne this coming Friday, starting at 11am.

The memorial flight had planned to mark Battle of Britain Day with a flypast on Monday (15 September), but the strong winds made it impossible.

Instead it is planning to mark the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain by making a number of passes of the clifftop tribute to the Few on Friday (19 September), with two Spitfires and a Hurricane of the Memorial Flight joined by a twin-seater from Goodwood and a Hispano Buchon, a Spanish Air Force version of the Messerschmitt Bf109 powered by a Rolls Royce Merlin engine.

The Memorial will be open for visitors, with the shop, café and Scramble Experience all in operation. Please remember that the Trust is a charity that depends on the generosity of visitors. If you come along and enjoy this spectacular site, please visit the cafe or shop or donate to the cause.

(Please note all flypasts are subject to weather and serviceability).
