More than 130 classic cars provided a bonus attraction for visitors as the Ramsgate Old Motor and Motorcycle Club showed off their vehicles against the backdrop of the National Memorial to the Few.
Members of the club have been bringing their lovingly polished classic vehicles to the site for a number of years, and the day always proves a real boost to the Memorial and to the charity’s funds.
This year saw more than 130 cars, crowds of visitors and glorious weather combine to make it a day to remember for exhibitors and spectators alike. Singer Jane Dunford - otherwise known as 'Just Jane' added to the atmosphere of the day with songs from the 1940s and '50s.
One of the organisers, Alan West, said the day had once again been a terrific success. “We always enjoy a fabulous welcome at the Memorial and our members really enjoy the chance to display their cars against such a dramatic backdrop,” he commented.
As well as boosting takings in the shop, café and Scramble Experience, generous club members always make a donation to the Trust after the show, helping the charity, which receives no support from the public purse, continue its work remembering the Few.
Memorial manager Jules Gomez presented trophies to the Best in Show, Jenny Wilford and her Morris Traveller, and runner-up Patrick Mc Garry and his Volkswagen campervan.
