Bringing back memories

This impressive group paused for a photograph at the Memorial during a 25km march from Dover to Sir John Moore Barracks in Folkestone.

The march by 2 Royal Gurkha Regiment was originally meant to be battalion strength, but with some companies on deployment it was limited to a company-plus.

Memorial Manager Jules Gomez, who himself served in the British Army for 29 years, retiring as a Major, greeted the soldiers, including the Commanding Officer, Gurkha Major and Regimental Sgt Major.  “It certainly brought back memories of marching,” he admitted with a smile.
