Big donation follows car show

Malcolm

Not content with giving visitors to the Memorial something extra to enjoy when they brought their highly polished exhibits to Capel-le-Ferne in September, members of the Ramsgate Old Motor and Motorcycle Club were back this week to hand over a generous donation to the Trust.

The car enthusiasts have been holding their annual Bonnets and Wings Classic Car Show at the site for a number of years, turning the heads of visitors as they park against the stunning backdrop of the National Memorial to the Few.

This year was no different, with a fantastic turnout of beautifully preserved old vehicles that made the best of a late burst of fine summer weather.

The group is always generous on the day, using the café and shop and donating to the charity’s funds, led by organiser Peter Harvey, a generous supporter of the Memorial who hopes that the chance to see such stunning vehicles encourages more visitors on the day.

Peter (right in picture) was back on Monday (9 October) with club member Alan West to hand over a cheque for a further £550 collected from club members after the event.

“The Bonnet and Wings Classic Car Show is always a great event and this year again saw a fantastic range of old vehicles at the Memorial,” said site manager Jules Gomez (centre). "We are incredibly grateful that having enjoyed their visit the drivers always respond so generously by donating to the charity."
