Christmas closure

At the end of another busy year for the Trust, the Wing and car park will close for the Christmas and New Year break on Sunday 19 December and re-open on Tuesday 4 January 2022.

Access to the site will still be possible using the pedestrian gate, but please do not park in front of the entrance as the gates need to be kept clear for emergency access.

If you do visit our clifftop home for a bracing walk and perhaps even a view of the French coast if the weather is kind, please drop a coin or two in our collection box. This tribute to the men who fought and won the Battle of Britain receives no public funding and only exists because of the generosity of donors and those who visit the shop and Scramble Experience.

While 2021 was an odd one for us all, the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust was heartened by the number of visitors who came back to the site once restrictions were lifted, and the generosity of out supporters means the past year has seen a number of improvements here at Capel-le-Ferne.

Those improvements include floodlighting the various features of the Memorial, including the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall and our new RAF gates - another reason to enjoy an early evening stroll.

"We've been humbled by the generosity of our supporters in 2021 and we are pleased that despite the challenges it has been a memorable year for the Trust," said Chairman Richard Hunting CBE. "We wish everyone, particularly the staff and volunteers who keep the site running so smoothly throughout the year, a happy and relaxing Christmas and a healthy and fulfilling new year."
