A clifftop beacon at the Capel-le-Ferne home of the National Memorial to the Few will mark the start of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on the evening of Thursday 2 June.
The evening celebration will give visitors a chance to enjoy the floodlit site, while the whole of the Battle of Britain Memorial, including The Scramble Experience, shop and café, will be fully open from 8pm until 10pm.
The beacon, one of 1,500 around the country, will be lit at 9.45pm, heralded by a bugle call. Supporters and visitors will be joined at 9.30pm by a torchlit procession of villagers from Capel-le-Ferne who will walk to the site from the village playing field escorted by the 99 (Folkestone) Squadron Air Training Corps.
The site will be open as normal throughout the rest of the jubilee weekend.

I traveled with Greyhound and found their customer service to be lacking. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unresponsive to inquiries, which added to the frustration of an already lengthy wait. Additionally, the information provided about delays was often unclear, leaving passengers confused and anxious, find customer service contacts on best greyhound phone number. While the buses themselves were comfortable, the overall experience was marred by the inadequate support from the customer service team. I hope they can improve their communication and responsiveness in the future.
