AUTUMN SUNDAY TALK SERIES
In the last of our current line-up of Sunday afternoon speakers, Air Commodore Rick Peacock-Edwards CBE AFC will tell the remarkable story of his father, Squadron Leader Spencer Ritchie Peacock-Edwards, one of ‘the Few’.
The talk begins at 2pm and is free to enter, but we suggest a minimum donation per person of £5 to help the charity continue its work. Please let us know if you are unable to make it so that we can allocate your place to someone on the waiting list. To book, call 01303 249292 or email enquiries@battleofbritainmemorial.org
THURSDAY 30 OCTOBER
POSTING LETTERS TO THE MOON
Join us for a remarkable evening as Letters to the Moon brings to life the touching wartime correspondence between actress Celia Johnson, star of the classic 1945 film Brief Encounter, and her husband, writer and journalist Peter Fleming OBE.
This unique performance will be staged on Thursday 30 October at the prestigious RAF Club in London’s Piccadilly, raising vital funds for the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust.
Actress Lucy Fleming (Celia Johnson’s daughter) and Simon Williams (Yes, Prime Minister) will dramatise these personal letters, revealing Celia’s experiences of wartime Britain - from housing evacuated children and learning to drive a tractor, to coping with rationing and serving as an auxiliary policewoman.
Alongside the performance, guests will enjoy a hot supper in the historic surroundings of the RAF Club.
