The National Memorial to the Few is open throughout the year and is accessible on foot at any time. The car park and The Wing, which includes The Scramble Experience and The Geoffrey Page Centre as well as the shop, Cockpit café and toilets, is open from 10 am daily. The site itself, which includes the Memorial, Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall and replica Spitfire and Hurricane, is free to visit, although there is a small charge for parking. There is an admission charge for The Scramble Experience (concessions apply) – click on the £ sign at the top of the page for details.
Phased opening days
Please note at present we are operating phased open days during these restricted times. We will be open every Friday through to Monday 10am – 5pm. We have in place all Covid-19 safety measures and we ask our visitors to wear a face covering whilst in the building. Face coverings can be removed once seated in cafe. If you would like to take part in the Scramble Experience we are now operating a 50 minute session on the hour. This then enables staff to sanitise the Scramble Experience for the next hour entrance. If you would like to pre-book a date and time for The Scramble Experience you can do this via our firstname.lastname@example.org
1 March to end September, 10am – 5pm (last entry to the Experience/cafe purchase 4.30pm)
1 October to end February, 10am – 4pm (last entry to the Experience/cafe purchase 3.30pm)
We welcome all visitors to the site and have level or ramped access, modern disabled facilities and close, reserved car parking, along with a lift to the balcony. See our review on Euan’s Guide here
Groups visits are welcomed and can be booked by emailing email@example.com Schools can take advantage of the Geoffrey Page Centre, which is a purpose-built education area. Worksheets for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 are available and we have produced a new worksheet for younger children.
The Wing building is home to the exciting Scramble Experience, the Geoffrey Page Centre, a new retail area and the Cockpit Cafe, which has an unbeatable view of the Channel and (on a clear day) the coast of France. Guided tours can be arranged, subject to availability, at a cost of £30.
The building has ladies’, gents’ and disabled toilets and a lift to the first floor café, which sells hot drinks, soft drinks, ice creams, snacks, sandwiches and confectionery. The shop stocks a wide range of souvenirs and Battle of Britain-themed gifts, including many unique collectors’ items signed by the Few.
Special events are held throughout the year and we are occasionally lucky enough to glimpse a Spitfire flying over the Memorial. Check the news section of this site or visit our Facebook page to keep up to date.
Please note: pre-booked coaches bringing visitors to The Scramble Experience benefit from free parking. Coaches that are not pre-booked will be required to pay for parking. To pre-book your coach party (and benefit from reduced admission charges), telephone +44 (0)1303 249292 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
