A key aim of the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust is to educate visitors about the bravery and the sacrifice of the Few, and The Wing building was specifically designed to help us achieve that goal. While one ‘wing’ of The Wing is given over to The Scramble Experience, the other houses the Geoffrey Page Centre, which is our purpose-built education area.
Schools are invited to use the centre as a base for an educational visit to the site, which has been awarded a Quality Badge from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom. Worksheets for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 are available, along with a fun worksheet for younger children. Jules, our site manager, is happy to take children on a tour of the site and there is a special concessionary rate for visiting The Scramble Experience of £2.50 per person for pre-booked educational visits (with free admission for up to three members of staff/coach drivers).
Please note: pre-booked coaches bringing visitors or school groups to The Scramble Experience benefit from free parking. Coaches that are not pre-booked must pay to park.
To pre-book your school or coach party (and benefit from reduced admission charges), telephone +44 (0)1303 249292 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
‘The Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne is an experience I will never forget. I especially liked the scramble experience; all of the noises made you really understand what it was like for the brave pilots. I think that the memorial is an extremely special place to remember those who served our country in the Battle of Britain.”
