An 80th anniversary tribute from Slovakia

The aircrew of the Royal Air Force who took on the might of the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain in 1940 included a significant number from what was then Czechoslovakia.

Those brave men, along with members of the Few from many different countries around the world, are commemorated on the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall as ‘the Few’ who together saved this nation from invasion.

As we prepare to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain at our virtual Memorial Day tomorrow, we are privileged to share this video. It was created by the Ambassador of Slovakia to the Court of St.James’s, Lubomir Rehak, and Defence Attache Col. Jan Goceliak, who visited the site at Capel-le-Ferne to lay a wreath in honour of their colleagues who served the cause so bravely.
