Long-serving volunteer Sylvia Coles has hung up her volunteer’s shirt after an impressive 13 years working hard on behalf of the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust.
Known as one of the “Wednesday girls” before the opening of The Wing in 2015, before which volunteers ran a small shop and cafe in Hunting Lodge, now a smart new meetings venue, Sylvia has seen lots of changes over the years. She was present when the Wing was opened by Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and adapted well to the new challenges.
During her final volunteers’ meeting on Tuesday (26 March), Site Manager Jules Gomez and the Secretary of the Trust Patrick Tootal presented Sylvia with a certificate thanking her for her 13 years’ loyal service. The Trust wishes her a long and happy retirement.
