The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust was delighted to welcome Slovak Ambassador Ľubomír Rehakand and the new Slovak Defence Attaché Col Vladímir Stolárik on a recent visit to the Memorial.
Like many other visitors, the two men combined their trip to Capel-le-Ferne with a visit to the Kent Battle of Britain Museum just down the road in Hawkinge.
The visitors, who were accompanied by friend of the Trust Tom Dolezal, were shown around by site manager Jules Gomez, who also took them into The Scramble Experience where they watched our unique film about two pilots on a “scramble” during the summer of 1940.
“Despite the ‘doom and gloom’ weather, the ambassador and the defence attaché both enjoyed their visit,” said Tom. At the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall they were able to find the names of two Slovaks who flew in the Battle of Britain amongst 88 Czechoslovak pilots.
