Top educational resource Twinkl has listed the Memorial as one of Kent’s top ‘must visit family days out’.
The online resource provides material for teachers all around the world, with thousands of subcribers using it for lesson planning.
Its feature on the best family days out in Kent highlights the fact that our clifftop Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne was “built to honour all the aircrews who flew in the Battle of Britain” and refers to the high-tech, interactive displays in The Scramble Experience in The Wing.
It adds: “Once you’re finished exploring all that the centre has to offer, upstairs provides a stunning view over The English Channel to France”.
The entry links to Twinkl’s Battling for the Skies: Key Facts about the Battle of Britain Fact File and promises that it will “get you clued up on the subject before you go!”
The Memorial often welcomes school trips to The Wing and has its own educational material and fact sheets to help local schools explore this important topic and learn more about the bravery and sacrifice of the Few in 1940. Teachers who would like to arrange a visit should speak to the site manager on 01303 249292.
