Ewan’s tribute to the men of the RAF

One of our youngest supporters has modelled a new memorial to the men of the RAF – and put his favourite Battle of Britain fighter at the heart of it.

Seven year-old Ewan Simpson, who attends Hawkinge Primary School, came up with the idea of a commemorative arch from which a Spitfire could be suspended as though in flight.

Ewan used a model Spitfire he built at one of the Airfix Make and Paint Days held at the Battle of Britain Memorial in recent years and made his own arch and baseboard to complete the diorama.

A regular visitor to the Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne with his family, Ewan clearly has a bright future as a commemorative artist. We think his idea is fantastic!
