Her Majesty The Queen unveiled the new building on Thursday 26 March in what proved to be a great way to mark the start of commemorations for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
The Scramble Experience has been designed to appeal to all ages and will be a hands-on, audio-visual extravaganza that will recreate a day in the life of one of the Few during the summer and early autumn of 1940.
This is a very exciting time for the Trust as we seek to ensure that the legacy of these great men is never forgotten. The Experience will be open from 10am throughout the summer (for closing times, see below).
As well as The Scramble Experience, The Wing includes the Geoffrey Page Centre, which provides schools with a great learning base. The Trust has also prepared worksheets on the Battle which are suitable for Key Stages 2 and 3, together with a teachers’ guide. Please get in touch if you would like to bring a school group.
In the centre of the building, on the first floor, is the new Cockpit Cafe which we think has one of the best views in Kent. Look out over the Channel and think about what you might have seen coming towards you 75 years ago…
