Battle of Britain veteran Terry Clark is now the proud owner of an 80th anniversary sweater, thanks to the Trust and manufacturer Glenbrae Knitwear.
Glenbrae has supplied a range of royal blue sweaters adorned with the smart Battle of Britain 80 logo for sale in the shop at Capel-le-Ferne.
The company then offered to supply free sweaters for Flight Lieutenant Clark and Group Captain John Hemingway, thought to be the only two surviving members of the Few.
The Trust arranged to deliver the sweaters to the two men, both aged 100, and was delighted to be sent a photograph showing Flt Lt Clark with his new apparel.
The photo was sent by friend Derek Wheeler, who lives near Flt Lt Clark’s care home in North Yorkshire and presented the sweater on behalf of the Trust. He said: “Myself and three other friends who have known Terry for over 20 years meet with him at his care home once a month for a fish and chip supper, which he always enjoys.
“The staff at the care home certainly go out of their way to see that all we could need is prepared for us. Derek is still very interested in the RAF.”
