New partnership will encourage US visitors

The trust has teamed up with a company that specialises in bringing US and Canadian tourists to the UK, with the aim of increasing visitors to the Memorial.

England101.com is working with the Visit-Britain funded US Connections project, which looks for new ways to increase the number of visitors coming to this country to check out their ancestral connections.

The website aims to encourage as many as possible of the 100 million people around the world who believe they can trace their roots to the UK to visit the country, and has now featured the Battle of Britain Memorial as one of the recommended ‘must visit’ sites beyond London.

According to England101, approximately 24 per cent of tourists from the US and a third of those from Canada claim their primary reason for visiting the UK is to trace their ancestral links.
 
The Trust works closely with Visit Kent, which is one of the 12 counties included in the US Connections project and has been working with the England101 team to identify the essential places that tourists should visit, including the Memorial here at Capel-le-Ferne.
 
“England101 looks forward to ensuring that the US and Canadian tourists of Kent ancestry are encouraged to make this an essential piece of their Kent homecoming tour,” said spokesman Stephen Treacy.
