Memorial a priority for High Sheriff

After an understandably frustrating start to her year in office, High Sheriff of Kent Remony Millwater enjoyed a visit to the Battle of Britain Memorial on Friday (24 July).

In full High Sheriff uniform, complete with matching blue facemask, she was shown around the site and The Wing by Secretary Patrick Tootal, Trustee Andy Simpson and Site Manager Jules Gomez before visiting the Scramble Experience.

The High Sheriff, who was sworn in to her new post via a video link just as the coronovirus lockdown came in to force, has only recently been able to visit her patch in person, and was keen to fit the Memorial in to mark this year’s 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

It was her first visit to the site and she said she had thoroughly enjoyed her tour and would be back with her family. “It’s very peaceful, a lovely spot and I particuarly like the way the propellor is visible from the balcony of the cafe,” she said. “The Stuka sculpture is also a very impressive new addition to the site.”
