Our great new Battle of Britain library will shortly be open to visitors at weekends.
The site’s former visitor centre, Hunting Lodge, was converted into a library and resource centre last year and is home to an amazing amount of reference material dealing with the Battle and the men who fought it.
Until now this resource – which also serves as a venue for business meetings during the week – has been open to the public by request, but now Volunteer Simon Nunney has offered to open it to visitors.
Hunting Lodge will informally be open on the weekend of 13 and 14 April while Simon familiarises himself with the layout but will then be fully open each Saturday and Sunday from Easter weekend onwards. There are likely to be occasional closures, such as on Memorial weekend in July.
The building will be open between 11am and 3.30pm. It will also be open on occasional weekdays when there is a volunteer available to staff it. A sign on reception will advertise weekday openings.
