Seventy-nine years ago, during a long hot summer similar to the one we are currently enjoying, the RAF was fighting the Battle of Britain, a conflict that had started on 10 July and was to last unti the end of October.
The brave men who fought it, fewer than 3,000 in total, are listed on the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall at Capel-le-Ferne, a permanent tribute to all those who flew to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.
The Trust has a sponsorship scheme that invites visitors and supporters to ‘adopt’ one of the names on the wall. For just £35 you can help the Trust by sponsoring one of the names, receiving a special folder, certificate and a copy of your chosen airman’s entry in Men of the Battle of Britain in return.
