Rain failed to dampen the spirits of an enthusiastic team that promoted the work of the Trust at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, earlier this week.
Kent County Cricket Club invited the Trust to set up a stand and hold a bucket collection on what was the third day of a match between the aptly-nicknamed Kent Spitfires and a West Indies touring side.
The Trust also entertained a number of sponsors and supporters in the club’s boardroom, thanks to support from Faversham brewer Shepherd Neame.
With the match heading for a draw and the weather forecast looking as bleak as anything so far experienced this summer, the attendance was low, but staff, volunteers and helpers still rallied to the cause.
What few supporters were around to watch the cricket between the showers gave generously and visited the shop, which added to Trust funds and helped raise the charity’s profile.
