The Trust will once again be playing host to a collection of classic cars when members of Ramsgate Old Motor and Motorcycle Club make their annual pilgrimage to the Memorial on Sunday 2 Sept.
Organiser Peter Harvey is expecting a Daimler coupe, 1953 Ford Anglia and a P5B Rover to be among the splendid old cars turning heads on the clifftop site.
Peter said his members understood the importance of the Battle of Britain and were keen to pay their respects to the Few while proudly displaying their classic machinery at this atmospheric site.
“This will be our second visit to the Memorial and we hope to be able to make a healthy donation to the Trust’s funds was well as encouraging more visitors to the site that day,” he said.
“It is so important to remember the aircrew who took part in the Battle of Britain and we hope that the chance to see these splendid vehicles will help boost the numbers that day.”
The Bonnets and Wings event will run from 11am until 4pm and around 80 classic cars are expected. Although there is a small charge for car parking, entry to the site is free. Refreshments will be available as always in The Cockpit Café.
