The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust is again supporting a local event which will begin with a torchlit procession from the village hall that is expected to reach the National Memorial to the Few at 8.30pm on Thursday 6 June.
A bugle call will herald the lighting of the beacon at 9.15pm, marking the start of the liberation of mainland Europe by the Allies in 1944.
The evening commemoration will give visitors a chance to enjoy the illuminated site, while the whole of the Memorial, including The Scramble Experience, shop and café, will be fully open from 8pm until 10pm.
