The Battle of Britain Memorial recently welcomed Army veteran, accessibility content creator and wheeled adventurer, The Disabled Adventurer, as part of his ambitious #50at50 mission.
Nick Wilson, to celebrate his 50th year, will be visiting trails in the UK, USA, Dubai and Austria, where he will aim to complete 50km sections in his all-terrain wheelchair.
The challenge is three-fold; to demonstrate what is possible for disabled people, highlight accessible places to visit and raise money for all-terrain chairs to be bought for attractions so that visitors can borrow one to enjoy their day more easily.
As part of his mission to highlight accessible places to visit, The Disabled Adventurer chose to include the Battle of Britain Memorial in his Kent itinerary, capturing footage of the site, including its unique clifftop setting overlooking the English Channel.

We are proud to welcome visitors of all abilities and have taken great care to make the site as accessible as possible, with step-free access across much of the Memorial and a lift serving the first-floor Cockpit Café.
There are free disabled parking bays for cars immediately outside the main entrance and easy access to the building via a level pathway. Front and rear doors are automatic and there is a lift to the first floor. Entry to the exhibition inside the building is via a screen that is opened by staff. Access to the whole of the rest of the site and outside attractions is level or ramped.
