Opera lovers are being urged to join supporters of the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust at a gala evening of opera being held in Guildford on Saturday, 10 November.
“Essential Opera – A Tribute to the Few” is being staged by Opera Foundry, a dynamic young opera company that will be presenting a programme of works by composers ranging from Mozart to Puccini.
The programme, which will include complete opera sections interlaced with popular arias, duets and trios under the direction of Richard Cartmale, formerly with English
National Opera, is being held in aid of the Trust’s appeal for The Wing.
Opera Foundry is a new company based in Surrey that prides itself on helping upcoming singers develop their careers. The concert is being held at the Guildford United Reformed Church, beginning at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 (concessions £8).
There will be a special guest appearance during the evening by Battle of Britain pilot Wing Commander Bob Foster DFC AE, who has agreed to step in following the sad death of Flight Lieutenant William Walker AE, who sadly died at the weekend aged 99. William had been due to read one of his poems at the event.
Tickets for the evening of opera can be obtained from the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust by telephoning 01732 870809.
