A collection of classic cars boosted fund-raising for the Wing Appeal at the Memorial by an impressive £2,000.
Volunteers welcomed the Folkestone Automobile Club to the breathtaking clifftop site at Capel-le-Ferne and were rewarded with the news that the entry fees from the 114 cars had raised £1,110 for the appeal.
Those same volunteers worked hard all day to sell teas, coffees, snacks and souvenirs to both car enthusiasts and visitors, setting the till jingling to the welcome tune of another £900.
“It was a great day,” said site director Ray Brannon. “The sun shone, the cars looked magnificent in this inspirational setting and we were rewarded with a healthy donation to the appeal. It also introduced the site and what it stands for to a number of new people.”
