Looking after the Battle of Britain Memorial is a vital – but costly – task. While the new Wing building and The Scramble Experience has added to our ability to generate income, it has also increased our costs, which now run to an estimated £100,000 a year.
To offset those costs we look to put on new events, boost takings in the shop and increase the range on offer in our amazing first floor cafe, but donations remain an important part of our fund-raising – and that will always be the case.
Another big help to the Trust comes in the shape of legacies, funds left to us by supporters in their Wills. We all appreciate that our first duty is to look after our nearest and dearest, but once they have been taken care of, it’s great to be able to help our favourite cause.
As a visitor to this website, we hope that the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust is one of your favourite causes, and we hope that you will consider leaving a legacy to the Trust in your Will.
We’ve also tried to make it as easy as possible by teaming up with solicitors Martin Tolhurst to offer a low-cost Will-writing service. You don’t have to use that particular company, but if you don’t already have a solicitor it could make things easier – and it’s likely to be cheaper for you as well as being better for us.
We’ve also produced a comprehensive guide to how to make a Will – and why we would like you to consider leaving a legacy to us as part of it. No sum is too small, and whatever you can afford will support the work the Trust does to commemorate the heroes of the Battle of Britain.
Their legacy? The world we live in today…
