If you live in the Folkestone or Dover area – or better still, in the wonderful village of Capel-le-Ferne itself – we’d love you to spare a few hours a week to join our amazing band of volunteers.
The Battle of Britain Memorial is run by a Trust, a registered charity that exists to promote and preserve the memory of the Few, the men of the RAF who kept this country free from a Nazi invasion.
It takes around £100,000 a year to maintain the site, the Memorial and The Wing, our new visitor centre, and we depend on volunteers to help us do that.
Not only do they allow us to run the site for less than it would cost commercially, but their skill, enthusiasm and love of the Memorial helps us make sure every visitor to the Memorial has a fantastic experience.
Our volunteers help in the shop and the cafe, they keep the site tidy and they welcome visitors and answer questions. The work is varied and can be fascinating, particularly if you have an interest in the events of 1940.
Think you can help? Pop in and have a chat, or email firstname.lastname@example.org – we’d love to hear from you.
